It is part of the Port of South Louisiana economic development zone and has a population of 67,593 as of the 2010 census. The city was founded by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville in 1715 and named for French explorer Louis XIV's minister Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville. The Biloxi Museum is located within the Walls Historic District.
