Morton, located in northeastern Illinois, is a small town with a big history. The town was founded in 1836 and named for General Josiah Morton, an American soldier in the Mexican-American War. Today, Morton is home to a number of historical sites and attractions, including the Morton Arboretum, which is home to more than 23,000 plants from around the world. In addition to its natural attractions, Morton is also home to several museums, including the George W. Brown Museum of Art and the Illinois State Historical Museum.
