Avon is a small town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. It is located in the northeastern corner of Greater Cleveland and has a population of 31,844 as of the 2010 census. Avon was founded by James A. Garfield as a small railroad stop on May 5, 1836, and named for the English town of Aylesbury. The first permanent settler in Avon was Job Chandler. The community's heyday came in the 1920s when it became known as "The Beverly Hills of the Midwest.
