The concentration camp of Dachau was one of the largest and most notorious of the Nazi camps. It is located about 30 miles west of Munich, near the southern border of Bavaria. The entrance to the camp is marked by a large stone memorial. Inside, visitors can see several buildings that were used as barracks and torture chambers. There are also remnants of the crematorium, which was used to dispose of the bodies of prisoners who died from disease or execution.
