Qazmalar is an ancient city in the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is located in the Qazakh Rayon of the country, on the right bank of the Qazal River. The city was founded in the 3rd century BC by an Iranian tribe known as the Dahaeans. In AD 298, it became a Roman municipium. After Azerbaijan became independent in 1918, Qazmalar became its capital. Today, Qazmalar is a tourist destination and contains many historical and cultural sites.
