Trooper is a small town in north-central Kansas that is worth visiting for its architecture and history. The town was founded in 1872 by the railroad company and originally named "Trooperville." It was renamed Trooper in honor of Colonel Charles E. Troop, who served as the first mayor of the town. There are several buildings and sites in Trooper that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the 1892 courthouse, the Pioneer Memorial Museum, and the Masonic Temple.
