Laurinburg is a historic town in the U.S. state of North Carolina, located on the Catawba River about 60 miles southwest of Charlotte. The town was first settled in 1785 and was named after Prince Charles Louis-Auguste de la Tour d'Auvergne, Duke of Laurinburg. Laurinburg is the home of Davidson College and has a rich history dating back to the American Revolution. The downtown area contains several buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the courthouse, post office, and Methodist church.
