Massapequa is a town in the Town of Hempstead on Long Island, New York, United States. The population was 49,743 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Massapequa Creek, which flows through it. The village of Massapequa was first settled around 1784 and incorporated in 1850 as a part of Hempstead. It became an independent town in 1895.
