Morris Plains is a census-designated place (CDP) in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 11,955. The town was founded in 1792 and named for Colonel James Morris of the American Revolutionary War. Today, Morris Plains boasts an array of shops and businesses along Route 23 and historic buildings near downtown. There are also several parks located throughout the town that offer residents a wide variety of activities to enjoy.
