The town was founded in 1887 and grew rapidly due to its location on the Southern Pacific Railroad line. Today, Dunlap is home to just over 2,000 residents and boasts many attractions including the Dunlap Opera House which has been in operation since 1922, and the restored Train Depot which is now home to the Dunlap Museum of History. Visitors can also explore the many wineries that dot the area or take a hike in one of the many nearby parks.
