Oak Park is a village located in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is a suburb of Chicago, and had a population of 34,131 at the 2010 census. Oak Park was founded in 1857 by Elisha Ogden Mills and his wife Laura Curtis Auchmuty. The village was named after the oak trees that lined its streets. Today, the village boasts more than 120 acres of parks and gardens, which are home to sculptures, botanical gardens and lakes.
