Lehigh Acres is a town in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 10,313 as of the 2000 census. It is part of the Fort Myers–Fort Myers–Sanibel–Naples, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area around Lehigh Acres was occupied by the Calusa Indians before being claimed by Spain in 1565. The first settlers arrived in 1883 and the town was founded that year. The community took its name from Lehigh Township in Pennsylvania.
