Needles is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley, located about halfway between Bakersfield and Fresno. It's known for its agricultural production and is home to a number of wineries. The town's main attraction, however, is the Needles National Monument, which comprises more than 130 archaeological sites from the Fremont culture, including some of the earliest examples of pottery in North America.
