Alabaster, located in the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri, is a small town steeped in history. The town was founded in 1873 and named after Alabaster Stone, a type of white marble found near the town. Today, visitors can explore the limestone cliffs and caves that line the banks of the White River, as well as see several preserved Victorian-era homes. Alabaster is also home to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, which was built in 1870 and has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
