The town has a population of just over 5,000 and contains a number of attractions including Burscough Hall, an 18th century manor house, and Burscough Park, home to the local football club. Other notable attractions include Burscough Roman Villa, which is open to the public and houses archaeological remains from the early Roman period; and St Chad's Church, built in 1887.
