Eland is a small town in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Aire, about 4 miles south-west of Wakefield and 10 miles south of Leeds. The town has a population of around 8,000 and contains two notable attractions: Elland Mills, one of Britain's oldest cotton mills which is now a museum; and Elland Abbey, an Augustinian monastery founded in 1101 which remains active today.
