Bucak is a small town in the Göreme National Park, located in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa. The town's name comes from a Syriac word meaning "town of beekeepers". It is known for its monasteries and churches, some dating back to the 4th century AD. The most famous of these is the Monastery of Saint John the Baptist, which contains some of the oldest Christian art in Turkey. Other attractions include Frescos at the Chapel of Saint Nicholas and an ancient water system.
