Leskovac is a lovely town in southern Serbia, located about halfway between Belgrade and Sarajevo. The town has a rich history dating back to the 6th century BC when it was known as Lissus. It grew in importance during the Byzantine Empire, serving as the capital of the province of Duklja. After falling to the Ottoman Turks in 1459, Leskovac briefly served as the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina before becoming part of Serbia in 1878.
