Chadan is a small town in Russia, located approximately 190 kilometers northeast of Moscow. The town's history dates back to the 14th century when it was founded by a group of settlers from the town of Kostroma. The area surrounding Chadan was first settled by Finnic and Uralic peoples, who were later replaced by Russians. Today, there are still significant populations of Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, and Tatars living in Chadan. The town has a population of just over 5,000 people and is well known for its wood carving workshops and metalworking shops.
