Gagarin is a small town in Russia, located about 220km east of Moscow. It's home to the world's first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, and is also known for its World War II airfields and later space program. Today, Gagarin is a quiet town with plenty of attractions for visitors, including the Museum of Cosmonautics, which has exhibits on the history of space exploration; the Gagarin State Regional Museum- Memorial Complex dedicated to the late Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin; and a memorial to all Russian cosmonauts.
