Shakhty is a small town in Russia, located about 190 kilometers south-east of Moscow. The town was founded in 1703 and has a population of just over 10,000 people. Shakhty is known for its scenic location and its many historical landmarks, including the Church of the Intercession on the Blood (1791), the Trinity Cathedral (1824-1830), and the Alexander Nevsky Monastery (1733). The town also has many parks and gardens, including Gatchina Garden, which was once owned by Nicholas I of Russia.
