Osa is a small town located in the very heart of Russia, close to the border of Kazakhstan. The municipality covers an area of 8 square kilometers and has about 10,000 inhabitants. The town is probably best known for its three lakes – Osa, Kislovodskoe and Lazarevskaya – which are part of the Russian UNESCO World Heritage Site "Lake Baikal". There are also many interesting historical sites in Osa, such as the Trinity Church from 1724-1728, which was used as a fortress during the Great Patriotic War.
