Dorado is a small town on the east coast of Puerto Rico. It has been called "the pearl of the East" and has many interesting places to see. Dorado was founded in 1736 by Don Tomas de Averígenes, who named it after the town of Dorados in Greece. The town is home to the José Miguel Agüero Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals in Puerto Rico, as well as churches, museums and art galleries. There are also several beaches nearby that are great for swimming and sunbathing.
