Torre de Moncorvo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the municipality of Pontevedra, in the northwest region of Portugal. The tower was built as a fortified watchtower by King Afonso IV of Portugal between 1248 and 1256. The tower is one of the oldest surviving fortifications in Europe. It has been used as a prison, military barracks, customs house and royal palace. The tower is now a tourist attraction with amenities such as restaurants, cafes and an observation platform at its top.
