Na anz is a small town in Iran famous for its architecture and ancient ruins. The town is located in the Khuzestan province, about 160 kilometers south of the provincial capital Shiraz. Na anz was first settled by the Assyrians in the 7th century BC, but it rose to prominence under the Sasanian Empire (224-651 AD). The Sasanian kings built many palaces and fortresses in Na anz, including the huge palace known as the Qasr-e Shirin. Many of these structures have been restored and are now open to tourists.
