Abohar is a small town in the Indian state of Haryana. It is located about 80 kilometers north of Chandigarh near the banks of the Sutlej River, and has a population of about 50,000. Abohar was founded in 1864 by Maharaja Chhatrasal Singh to serve as a cantonment for his army. The town developed into an important railway junction and grew rapidly after it became part of India in 1947.
