Maardu is the largest and most important town in the eastern part of Estonia. The town has a long history dating back to the 13th century, when it was founded by Ivar V of Narva. Today, visitors can explore its many attractions, including its impressive architecture and historical sites. Highlights include the Maardu Town Hall and St. Nicholas church, both built in the 16th century. Other highlights include the medieval market square, a number of well-preserved baroque mansions, as well as a number of Art Nouveau buildings from around 1900.
