Assab is a city located on the Red Sea coast in Eritrea. It is one of the oldest coastal cities in Eritrea and was once a major port for goods coming into the country. Today, Assab is a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful beaches, colonial architecture, and vibrant nightlife. Some of the sights to see in Assab include the Abeid Palace, which was built by Emperor Haile Selassie I; Saint Mary's church, which was built in 1872; and the marketplaces, which are filled with colorful stalls selling local produce and crafts.
