Hailin is a small city in eastern China, about 190 kilometers from the city of Dalian. Hailin was formerly known as Beihai and became a municipality in 1958. Hailin has a history dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). During the Tang Dynasty, Hailin was an important trading port for goods bound for Japan. Today, Hailin is known for its natural scenery and traditional architecture, especially its large Buddhist temples.
