Shima is a small port town on the southern coast of China that has been completely rebuilt in recent years. The new city center is a neo-traditional Chinese style, with white walls and red roofs, and several impressive bridges linking the old town to the new. Highlights include the Dragon Bridge, which was restored in 2009 and now spans a narrow creek; and the Jade Gate, a restored 17th century gate tower. There are also several interesting temples and gardens in the town, as well as some great seafood restaurants.
