Rakitovo is a small town in central Bulgaria, located about 50 kilometers southwest of the capital Sofia. The town has a long history as it was once an important center for the trade of silk and woolen fabrics. Rakitovo also has a number of interesting historical sites, including the Church of Holy Forty Martyrs, which was built in the 18th century and is one of the oldest churches in central Bulgaria. The town's main attraction, however, is its well-preserved medieval town center.
