Qal'at-e Now, also known as Qal'at-e Shirineh or the Monolith of Silence, is a large cave located near the city of Herat in western Afghanistan. It is considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites in Afghanistan and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The monolith is made up of several large blocks of stone that are up to 20 meters long, 5 meters wide and 4 meters high. Legend has it that the monolith was carved by an angel who flew over the area thousands of years ago.
